Verbascum thapsus.
A.
(Was it serendipity
that removed the anonymity of
this plant, to me?),
sat on dead rails, on S-Bahn trails
towards shallow lakes,
or in conquered vacant lots;
a misplaced alien;
an erupting pod amongst
dusty, grasses greying.
B.
A queen of weeds,
staked within layers like
labia unfolding,
or a skyward steeple growing tall;
tower-strong mutant—
a lank, defiant, giant mother
of suns, budding,
like a fierce, green galaxy,
(or something like that).
