Studies is a series of photographs created during two sessions in 2013.

The images, born from an attempt to immortalise the everyday within the context of unashamed and the uncensored, exploring seemingly banal and otherwise unseen scenes within the life of a young woman, were originally planned to be preparatory images or studies able to be referenced retrospectively.

What resulted were a collection of over eighty images that not only examined and followed the centuries-old dynamic between artist and muse at its surface, but also gave rise to the emergence of an inner narrative: a character or alter-ego, created at the collaborative meeting of artist-creator and muse-actor. Given life by way of orchestration, improvisation and performance, the scenes fluidly and ultimately present a transition and expression across states of being concerning, apathy, solitude and desire.
