Flood.

And as rainfall descends
it does so with an impatient haste;
inhabitants may curse and murmur—
a most primordial, deep murmur,
as streams and brooks are swollen
into burdened murky flows
as minute hillocks and dotted islands descend.

The land, the earth; soil & sand,
overridden with such fertile offerings
creates an omni-structured haven
in which bug, bulb and bracken rejoice
while the sky, both stoic and stern
fades into night once more
with with heavy proud sighs of a wise elder.
