Carbon.
I behold the blackest of echoes,
for in the begining there was black
and the warmest of all silences,
and all slumbers and all stillnesses,
but then came a carbon newness;
Life arrived, seething and crawling...
I behold the unspeakable light—
radiant mists, coated in carbon,
multiplication; number by number,
impossible calculations over, again,
Endless, boundless, ceaseless...
Suns were born; light became speech
in unseen waves of beautiful red;
usurping the black before it—
A most great, flattened, dimension...
