Bath.
From the collection All my dears (2019)

And I will baptise you,
In murky, soapy bathwater
Like a brazen wild heathen,
Afloat in a lukewarm broth.

And as you relay your day,
I cup the tepid grey water;
I chase and cast away the suds,
I trace softly your swell,

In those golden, idle moments,
As you’re bare, exposed and content;
In a new love, strange, abundant.
